"Trapped Inside Shadows" (Draft)

"Trapped in Shadows" (Draft)

Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

I’ve been ridin’ feelings slow, they’re the only kind I hide;
But the honesty they carry, begs me strong now to decide –
This friendship’s gotten lonely, gotta find out if there’s more;
But a fear has paralyzed me, that I’ll never know for sure.

CHORUS
When love’s trapped in shadows,
It will always find a way;
‘Cause when love's trapped in shadows,
It's too strong to stay that way.

These feelings that surround me, I find hard to keep within;
Before this night is over - I'll tell you where they’ve been –
You’re standing in moonlight, laughing with a bunch of friends;
I’m gonna up and tell you, that this friendship has to end.

CHORUS
When love’s trapped in shadows,
It will always find a way;
‘Cause when love's trapped in shadows,
It's too strong to stay that way.

[BRIDGE]
I reach out and tap your shoulder -
You tell your friends to move away;
When I tell you all my feelings,
You say you've always felt that way…

CHORUS
When love’s trapped in shadows,
It will always find a way;
‘Cause when love's trapped in shadows,
It's too strong to stay that way.

“Two Hearts in Tune”

“Two Hearts in Tune”
Copyright by Frank DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
Did she ever say she loved you,
When she poured you Cabernet?
Did she hold you when she hugged you,
Or did she pull away?
Maybe the signs were all disguised;
Maybe her words were all just lies...

CHORUS 1
So if your heart, sings a song;
And no one’s there, to sing along -
Just call my name; I’ll be there soon;
And we can be – two hearts in tune.
We can be – two hearts in tune.

[Vs2]
Couldn’t you see behind her grin,
That something was amiss?
Couldn’t you tell just where she’d been,
From her ice cold kiss?
Maybe her lips just looked too good;
Maybe her eyes just said you should...

CHORUS 2
I hear your heart, it sings a song;
There’s no one there, to sing along.
So call my name; I’ll be there soon;
And we will be – two hearts in tune.
We will be – two hearts in tune.

[Bridge]
When your heart’s,
Left high and dry;
You’ve tried your best, not to cry –
Just listen close,
And you will hear;
My heartbeat sing, “I’m always near.”

CHORUS 3
We'll hear our hearts, they'll sing a song;
They should have sung it all along.
There’s no one else, we have the room,
So now we are two hearts in tune...
Now we are two hearts in tune.

"Lyin' Streets" (Long Version) (Draft)

“Lyin’ Streets” (Long Version) (Draft)
©️ by Frank DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
A gentle breeze blows through her hair,
A subtle tease but she don’t care,
The boys down here are never fair,
With quick one lines and wishful stares,

[Vs2]
She’s been down here far too long,
In this town where love is wrong,
How can she leave, where she’s grown strong,
And learned the hard way to belong,

CHORUS
Lyin’ streets make grown men cry,
Lyin’ streets make good girls lie,
Lyin’ streets bring blurry eyes…
Lyin’ streets.

[Vs3]
She’s played the game, but never won,
And losing games is never fun,
How can she dare to be the one,
To give up now and say she’s done,

[Vs4]
She’s seen stone hearts just break in two,
She's gotta leave or she’ll break too,
She grabs her bag and bids adieu,
And hops a bus for some place new.

CHORUS
Lyin’ streets make grown men cry,
Lyin’ streets make good girls lie,
Lyin’ streets bring tears to eyes…
Lyin’ streets.

[Bridge]
She’ll never look back,
She’ll never lose track,
Always remembering...

CHORUS
Lyin’ streets make grown men cry,
Lyin’ streets make good girls lie,
Lyin’ streets bring tears to eyes…
Lyin’ streets.

"The Heirs of Johnny Cash"

 "The Heirs of Johnny Cash"
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr

I used to be a hater of good ole country music,
But the new rapper beats these days are trash;
You can listen to some lines then it's easy to pick,
Between the new gibberish or the heirs of Johnny Cash.

CHORUS
When I listen to the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon

I wish the kids today were not moven by that culture,
That swears up and down every other line;
But it seems the business is run by smiling hungry vultures,
That are picking artists not even worth a dime.

CHORUS
When I find all the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon

BRIDGE
Give me the heirs of Cash and Cline
They make me feel like I'm drinking right through a vineyard's vine

CHORUS
When I find all the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon
