“All That's Left That's Right”

"All That's Left That's Right”
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
In the closet I found some torn blue jeans,
That were the favorite pair you wore;
Johnny found the train set you and he built,
A wintertime or two before…
The Christmas tree’s up and still blinks bright,
But some bulbs just burned out;
Your parents didn't send a card this year -
They may have forgot us by now...

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.

[Vs2]
The car’s a little shaky, the tailpipe’s loose,
They say it’s on its last mile;
I remember how you’d fix it on rainy weekends,
Then kiss me with a greasy smile…
There’s a little bit of me that looks outside,
To see if you’ve come home;
All I can see is your son's tree house –
He doesn't like it all alone...

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.

[BRIDGE]
The front door key lies under the Welcome mat,
If you ever come back, I hope you remember that –
'Cause its where you put it at…

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.

"Cut A Raindrop"

“Cut A Raindrop”
©️ Frank A. Decenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved. This lyric may not be used without permission>

[Vs1]
When I first met you out near Denver,
We started sharing small talk and a Coor’s,
My heart was just beating a bit louder,
And I wondered was it louder than your’s...

[Vs2]
With the last call, we said "goodnight",
I promised you tomorrow I'd be there;
I couldn’t sleep at home without a smile,
And thoughts of yours lingered like perfumed air..

CHORUS
Can you cut these memories out of me
And do it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I think about
If you do it I won't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

[Vs3]
I saw you the next night at the same place,
Your lipstick was shining temptingly;
You kissed me and whispered, as the band played,
“When you hear this song, think of me.”

[Vs4]
It’s been a long long while since I saw you,
A sign that we've probably passed the end;
I’ve been there every night since you kissed me,
But I can’t feel my heart beating like then...

CHORUS
Can you cut these memories out of me
And do it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I think about
If you do it I won't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

[OPTIONAL BRIDGE]
Oh the vagaries of love
Can fall on you like a dove
Or they can hit like sliced up rain;
So start now to prepare
To get up and go somewhere
Where raindrops are an unbroken chain

OUTRO CHORUS
You cut those memories right out of me
And did it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I thought about
Since you did it I can't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

"Lead Balloons"

“Lead Balloons” [revised]
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Your cowboy boots must hold a stain,
That caught Mascara's falling rain,
The night you stood on our front porch and waved the kids goodbye;
I only wish I could have known,
That you would leave us all alone,
With bitter broken heart filled tears and rum infested lies…

CHORUS 1
Memories like lead balloons
Fall on me in every room
I’m afraid I won’t forget
And angry if you have;
All my dreams of love are chained
In dust that falls like all the pain
They fall on me, calling me –
Those lead balloons... still remain

[Vs2]
The kids don't play out on their swing,
With daddy gone they miss something,
That not too long ago meant everything they couldn’t lose...

CHORUS 1
Memories like lead balloons
Fall on me in every room
I’m afraid I won’t forget
And angry if you have;
All my dreams of love are chained
In dust that falls like all the pain
They fall on me, calling me –
Those lead balloons... still remain

[Vs3]
So we've moved on to newer things,
That only someone else could bring,
Now and then he stops by wearing new cowboy boots …
The change he's brought is slow and sweet,
Now I can hear kid's running feet,
And the children sing as he strums old country tunes…

CHORUS 2
Memories like lead balloons,
Fell on me in every room,
I was scared I would forget
The love I thought I had;
All my dreams of love remain
In cowboy boots and rainbow rain
He’s loving me, all of me –
Those lead balloons... blew away

"Only Leave A Kiss"

[Vs1]
Like cigarettes without a light,
I'm in this room alone tonight,
Trying to erase the way your skin felt right on mine;
I hope that time heals open wounds,
'Cause I still hear that velvet tune,
You whispered in my ear so clear my skin felt every rhyme...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

[Vs2]
Yesterday was just a blur,
I think the cocktails needed stirred,
Or maybe I was never meant to fall in love with you;
I’m still here but you're long gone,
Like poetry that’s written wrong,
Forgetting you is hard now but I’ll see what I can do...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

[BRIDGE]
Love is just another day
Within reach but far away
I'll throw away these cigarettes and try some Chardonnay...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

"You're The Last Song I Will Sing"

“You’re The Last Song I Will Sing” (Long Cut Version) <Draft 10>
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr
<All Rights Reserved. No Use Permitted Unless Authorized for Collaboration>

[Vs1]
A wild wind is blowing
Right across this weathered road;
Highway signs have fallen over,
They’re covered now by snow…
My dashboard lights your photo,
It brings the warmth I need;
I'm on this frozen highway;
Are you still waitin' for me?

[Vs2]
Any lights in the distance
Must be hiding through this night;
On this interstate abandoned –
All I see is falling white…
Though my travelin' days are over, .
And I’ve sung what I can sing;
You're still my only answer, and
Your love’s my everything.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.

[Vs3]
I hear your voice calling
Through those windswept winter trees;
My heartbeat's getting louder,
In my mind you’re holding me…
The city lights are creeping,
Through the blurry in-between;
This lone journey’s almost over,
And you’re almost within reach.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.

[Vs4]
The street’s white with winter cotton,
The drifts are getting deep;
As my wheels crawl to our driveway,
You’re probably fast asleep…
There’s a candle in the window,
Your face is in it’s light;
Smiling beautiful as ever,
You’ve been waiting through this night.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.

"Ancient Shores"

“Ancient Shores”
©️ by Frank DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved. No use unless permitted>

Many battles have been fought,
On shores just like this;
Some were fought for land to gain,
Some were for a kiss.
Now we stand where ocean’s breeze
Speaks a subtle line;
It says if we can remain strong,
Together we will find…

CHORUS
Storms will rise and waves will fall,
Of this we can be sure;
Holding tight, we’ll always fight
On life’s ancient shores.
Hand in hand, we’ll conquer all,
That time has yet in store;
Through dark or light, we’ll always fight,
For love’s ancient shores.

Tales are told about the men,
Who only fought for fame;
They gave their lives for a crown,
And some for a king’s name.
Here we are where we can make
An everlasting stand;
Whatever battles life will bring,
Together always can.

CHORUS
Storms will rise and waves will fall,
Of this we can be sure;
Holding tight, we’ll always fight
On life’s ancient shores.
Hand in hand, we’ll conquer all,
That time has yet in store;
Through dark or light, we’ll always fight,
For love’s ancient shores.

[BRIDGE]
As we age, we’ll write the page,
Forever etched in time;
Trials came, but we’re the same -
I’m still your’s, and you’re still mine.

CHORUS
Storms will rise and waves will fall,
Of this we can be sure;
Holding tight, we’ll always fight
On life’s ancient shores.
Hand in hand, we’ll conquer all,
That time has yet in store;
Through dark or light, we’ll always fight,
For love’s ancient shores.

"Whisper"

"Whisper"
©️ by Frank A DeCenso, Jr

[Vs1]
When we were kids you told me one day I'd be your queen;
You'd build me a castle from your grandma's pine tree;
You laughed and chased the butterflies then gave them all to me...
Then I told you,
What you wanted to hear...

CHORUS 1
All I need's a little whisper,
A little love song in my ear;
Wanna feel your running heartbeat,
Beat on mine...Beating here...
All I need's a gentle whisper,
As you pull me close and near;
You'll feel my love surrender,
Given up...Given here -
A whisper ...

[Vs2]
I moved away, you followed me like Mississippi rain;
The years have flowed by slowly but you have never changed;
Now everything I see in you is what our son became...
I still tell you,
What you love to hear...

CHORUS 2
All I needed was your whisper,
A little love song in my ear;
And feel your running heartbeat,
Beat on mine...Beating there...
All I wanted was your whisper,
As you pulled me close and near;
You felt my love surrender,
Given up...Given there -
A whisper ...

[BRIDGE]
This castle we made's not from any ole wood -
We made it by love and trust and all that we should;
And we are making love stronger -
Than we thought we could...

CHORUS 3
All we need's a little whisper,
A little love song in our ears;
And feel our running heartbeats,
Beating loud and beating clear;
All we need's a silent whisper,
As we pull real close and near;
We'll feel our love surrender,
Given up...Given there -
A whisper ...

OUTRO
Just a whisper
A tiny little whisper

©️ by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
I still recall us throwing stones at tired rusty cars –
Lonely highway coffins at the back of Joe's junkyard –
Those autumn skies bore streaks of flame,
That blew a warming breeze;
It whispered through your hair each night,
We'd sneak behind Oak trees.

CHORUS
That old jukebox still plays songs,
When passion fills the air –
Let’s start a new tomorrow now,
And see what song is there…

[Vs2]
The sands have fallen swiftly but your eyes are still the same –
Our feelings were like voiceless ghosts and we both share the blame –
We could have had it all back then,
But then just slipped away;
Tonight is begging for a chance,
To bring a brand new day.

CHORUS
That old jukebox still plays songs,
When passion fills the air –
Let’s start a new tomorrow now,
And see what song is there…

[BRIDGE]
Hold on tight – we’ll ride all night,
There’s more just up ahead…

CHORUS 2
That old jukebox plays our songs,
When passion fills the air –
Let’s start a new tomorrow now,
And see what song is there…
Let’s hold and dance – we can’t be wrong,
If we were right back then –
That old jukebox can bring us back,
To start it all again.

"One True Kiss Away"

"One True Kiss Away"
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Your empty bed's covered with roses
Hoping they'd someday grow
Your hunger for love's attention
An arrow looking for a bow

[Vs2]
You really don't mind lame excuses
For you they're just like a game
A riddle without any answers
'Cause you think love hides your name

[Vs3]
But memories of lost love cuts you,
Cuts deep down to the bone
Each morning a colder sunset
Icy heat is all you have known

CHORUS
You've given your heart a fresh coat paint
But it peels like it did yesterday
What's in the mirror is a broken saint
But redemption's one true kiss away

[Vs4 / BRIDGE]
You've rolled the dice, at least once or twice
But they ended up on their edge
Just like the love you've only known
Clinging to it's slippery ledge

CHORUS
You've given your heart a fresh coat of paint
But it peels like it did yesterday
What's in the mirror is a broken saint
But redemption's one true kiss away

“Over The Mountains" (Recorded)

“Over The Mountains” (Recorded)
Copyright by Frank DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
He met her on a highway run,
When they were both eighteen;
She left home for the great unknown -
He left home with a dream...
They met up in a small café,
Outside the Lincoln line;
They talked for hours, then they left,
Toward the west they'd ride...

CHORUS
Over the mountains
Moving toward the coast
Fell in love more each mile
Deeper in than most
Over the mountains
Sitting really close
Singing music he had made
Chasing spotlight's glow

[Vs2]
He told her all the hopes he had,
Of singing in L.A.;
He had a friend who told him that
He’d make it big someday...
Smiling as they drove out west -
Her hair flowed with the wind;
He sang to her each song he wrote,
And then she'd join right in...

CHORUS
Over the mountains
Moving toward the coast
Fell in love more each mile
Deeper in than most
Over the mountains
Sitting really close
Singing music he had made
Chasing spotlight's glow

[BRIDGE]
She held his hand and said that she’d
Forever be his fan;
No matter what the future held,
Together would be right...
Together always can

CHORUS
Over the mountains
Moving toward the coast
Fell in love more each mile
Deeper in than most
Over the mountains
Sitting really close
Singing music he had made
Chasing spotlight's glow

"I'm Not That Tough"

 “I'm Not That Tough”
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Your kisses fall upon me like new raindrops on a desert land,
And all I know is I need one more taste;
Your beauty still bewilders and I'm swept into your gentle arms,
As painted autumn skies light up your face…

CHORUS
My memories may haunt me
Someday when you're gone
Cause we both know I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all
I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all

[Vs2]
In candlelight your face glows and I’m captured by your golden gaze,
And all I want is found inside your eyes;
The fireplace makes shadows as we dance into the sands of time,
This autumn night won't end but it can try…

CHORUS
My memories may haunt me
Someday when you're gone
Cause we both know I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all
I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all

[BRIDGE]
If I could I'd move the mountains
Or at least I would try,
To hold you close...till we're out of time...

CHORUS
My memories may haunt me
Someday when you're gone
Cause we both know I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all
I'm not that tough
Not that tough at all

"Running Off The Edge"

"Running Off The Edge"
©️ Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
If I only had one wish,
One more dime to throw;
And the sands of time looked back,
With nowhere to go;
I'd wish that all the years we spent,
Beneath cloudy moons;
Were not just memories,
That left us too soon...

[Vs2]
When I look into the sky,
On starlit summer nights;
I can't help but wonder if,
You're in arms tonight;
Both our shadows used to blend,
With no space between;
I was just the lucky one,
With you my living dream...

CHORUS
Our memories can never hide,
They're paintings fully drawn in time;
The day we both, made the pledge -
Have colors running off the edge...

[Vs3]
We thought that we'd grow old,
And we'd be standing here;
But life can make drastic turns,
With no one to steer;
Now we've gone our own ways,
And maybe it's a test;
We have answers we both know,
Can still be what is best...

CHORUS
Our memories can never hide,
They're paintings fully drawn in time,
The day we both, made the pledge,
Have colors running off the edge...

[OPTIONAL BRIDGE]
Let's think about decisions,
Broken or just bent -
There's still time to turn around,
With promises that we have never spent...

CHORUS
Our memories can never hide,
They're paintings fully drawn in time;
The day we both, made the pledge,
Have colors running off the edge...

[OUTRO]
We can make that pictured paint,
Back up off the ledge...

"Yesterday's Moon" (Long Version)

“Yesterday’s Moon” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

Last night through hazy twilight,
And a fiery amber moon -
Saw her standing ‘neath a streetlight,
On an quiet avenue…
Many years had passed between us,
But her eyes were still the same;
She smiled when she saw me,
And her whisper called my name.

So we hugged into one shadow,
And revived old memories;
All the nights we held each other,
Promising we wouldn’t leave…
She said, “I'm sorry that I left you,
I was young and so confused...
Some nights I still think of you,
But it’s too late now to choose."

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon.

We talked for what seemed hours,
In midnight’s misty air;
The feelings time had scattered,
Swiftly returned to us there…
When I felt that moment’s magic,
Nothing was left to chance;
I asked her if she wanted,
One more try at our last dance…

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon.

While we wondered ‘bout forever,
And if now was too far gone;
I knew that if we didn’t try,
We’d waste this night’s swan song…
So we walked under the starlight,
Holding hands and feeling free;
And we promised that we’d think about,
All we still could be…

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon..

"Dirt Catches Raining Eyes"

"Dirt Catches Raining Eyes"
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Is this the first time you’re sailing alone
Your sails are battered and torn
You stare at darkened clouds above
Waiting for hope to be born
I can feel your lingering pain
I’ve been there twice or more
Maybe now’s the time for me
To spend it with you on the shore

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes

[Vs2]
If the answers you are looking to find
Are those floating in the mist
All the dreams you’re clinging to
Are sealed with some other’s kiss
I’ll be here as long as you want
Till the sun lights up your life
I’ll hold your hand strong and tight
If all you dreamt for said goodbye

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches your raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes

BRIDGE
I think I see the sun peeking through
I wonder if you do to…

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes
