"When There's Thunder"
"When There's Thunder"
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
They moved out after midnight,
Never thought that they would;
Left a million mem'ries wavin' -
Never thought that they could...
Daddy lost his job and pension,
Momma had two kids to raise;
As they traveled through the darkness,
Looked for more than yesterdays...
CHORUS 1
Dreams can shatter when there's thunder,
And the lightning follows fast;
Storms will break the weak in spirit,
If they hold on to the past...
Dreams can shatter when there's thunder -
But that thunder may not last.
Daddy saw through that horizon,
Past failure's fallen signs;
He knew he'd find the answers,
To the questions still behind...
Momma held both kids tighter,
Daddy's smile put them at ease;
Felt that with each new tomorrow,
There'd be more than just old dreams.
CHORUS 1
Dreams can shatter when there's thunder,
And the lightning follows fast;
Storms will break the weak in spirit,
If they hold on to the past.
Dreams can shatter when there's thunder -
But that thunder may not last.
[BRIDGE]
He never listened to the thunder,
Never feared the lightning's heat -
Found strength in all those failures,
To keep moving through defeat...
CHORUS 2
Dreams can shatter when there's thunder,
And the lightning follows fast;
Storms will break the weak in spirit,
If they hold on to the past...
But that thunder will not last.
