"Yesterday's Moon" (Long Version)

“Yesterday’s Moon” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

Last night through hazy twilight,
And a fiery amber moon -
Saw her standing ‘neath a streetlight,
On an quiet avenue…
Many years had passed between us,
But her eyes were still the same;
She smiled when she saw me,
And her whisper called my name.

So we hugged into one shadow,
And revived old memories;
All the nights we held each other,
Promising we wouldn’t leave…
She said, “I'm sorry that I left you,
I was young and so confused...
Some nights I still think of you,
But it’s too late now to choose."

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon.

We talked for what seemed hours,
In midnight’s misty air;
The feelings time had scattered,
Swiftly returned to us there…
When I felt that moment’s magic,
Nothing was left to chance;
I asked her if she wanted,
One more try at our last dance…

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon.

While we wondered ‘bout forever,
And if now was too far gone;
I knew that if we didn’t try,
We’d waste this night’s swan song…
So we walked under the starlight,
Holding hands and feeling free;
And we promised that we’d think about,
All we still could be…

CHORUS
The past had come between us –
Maybe it was too soon;
We were now a bit older,
And maybe more in tune…
To what was once our –
Yesterday’s moon..

"Dirt Catches Raining Eyes"

"Dirt Catches Raining Eyes"

[Vs1]
Is this the first time you’re sailing alone
Your sails are battered and torn
You stare at darkened clouds above
Waiting for hope to be born
I can feel your lingering pain
I’ve been there twice or more
Maybe now’s the time for me
To spend it with you on the shore

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes

[Vs2]
If the answers you are looking to find
Are those floating in the mist
All the dreams you’re clinging to
Are sealed with some other’s kiss
I’ll be here as long as you want
Till the sun lights up your life
I’ll hold your hand strong and tight
If all you dreamt for said goodbye

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches your raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes

BRIDGE
I think I see the sun peeking through
I wonder if you do to…

CHORUS
What a way to wander through
Threats of an angry sky
Hands holding the ground beneath
Dirt catches raining eyes
Your knees are muddy and they're bruised
Dirt catches raining eyes
