"The Heirs of Johnny Cash"

 "The Heirs of Johnny Cash"
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr

I used to be a hater of good ole country music,
But the new rapper beats these days are trash;
You can listen to some lines then it's easy to pick,
Between the new gibberish or the heirs of Johnny Cash.

CHORUS
When I listen to the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon

I wish the kids today were not moven by that culture,
That swears up and down every other line;
But it seems the business is run by smiling hungry vultures,
That are picking artists not even worth a dime.

CHORUS
When I find all the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon

BRIDGE
Give me the heirs of Cash and Cline
They make me feel like I'm drinking right through a vineyard's vine

CHORUS
When I find all the heirs of Johnny Cash
And fall deep into those honest country tunes
I look for my player of new MP3s
And sit on the porch staring at a cotton moon
