“Rainy Days”
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
Beneath a farmer's wood bridge - beside
a waterfall;
We'd run into each midnight - and there we'd share it all;
My eyes bowed to your beauty - and your perfumed secret spell,
Tonight's the same, but diff'rent - you're crying a farewell…
You’re
moving to those bright lights - where
promises are high;
The
future said its waiting there - but sometimes futures lie;
Your kiss tonight will hold me – I won't let it fade away;
Our memories will linger, for harder rainy days.
CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will
wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the
burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky
conceals a mystery,
Love falls on rainy
days.
Your letter cried redemption... the
ink was smeared to read;
That
city ripped your heart out – leaving emptiness to bleed;
Mistakes can burn like fire, but
girl, mistakes are made –
So I’m driving through this midnight… and harder heavy rain.
CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will
wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the
burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky
conceals a mystery,
Love falls on
rainy days.
You’re
standing lone and battered... beneath a dim streetlight;
Your clothes are soaked with regrets... from swollen angry skies;
You drop into my wet arms... I say it'll be alright;
Tomorrow's never too far... I'll take you there tonight.
CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will
wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the
burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky
conceals a mystery,
Love falls on rainy days.
