“Rainy Days”

“Rainy Days”
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

Beneath a farmer's wood bridge - beside a waterfall;
We'd run into each midnight - and there we'd share it all;
My eyes bowed to your beauty - and your perfumed secret spell,
Tonight's the same, but diff'rent - you're crying a farewell…

You’re moving to those bright lights - where promises are high;
The future said its waiting there - but sometimes futures lie;
Your kiss tonight will hold me – I won't let it fade away;
Our memories will linger, for harder rainy days.

CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky conceals a mystery,
Love falls on rainy days.

Your letter cried redemption... the ink was smeared to read;
That city ripped your heart out – leaving emptiness to bleed;
Mistakes can burn like fire, but girl, mistakes are made –
So I’m driving through this midnight… and harder heavy rain.

CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky conceals a mystery,
Love falls on rainy days.

You’re standing lone and battered... beneath a dim streetlight;
Your clothes are soaked with regrets... from swollen angry skies;
You drop into my wet arms... I say it'll be alright;
Tomorrow's never too far... I'll take you there tonight.

CHORUS
Some clouds only move for sunlight,
Some only drop cruel rain;
Some rain will wash you clean, baby –
Some fall like balls of flame;
Sometimes the burning cleanses you,
Sometimes you’re burned away –
Each sky conceals a mystery,
Love falls on rainy days.

“Shakespeare Skits”

“Shakespeare Skits”
Copyright by Frank DeCenso, Jr.

He met her at a diner, down on Elmhurst Street;
He never met one finer, or that made his heart beat.
He asked her to a movie, where romance is still kind;
She wore her best jewelry, but it was her eyes that shined.

They dated for a while, longer than their friends;
They’d gone the extra mile, hoping it wouldn't end.
They talked about the future, and wondered what it held;
Believed love would endure, for in their hearts it swelled.

They married in a chapel, not far from her home;
It looked like a big castle, built with fancy stone.
They had plans to live like, a princess and her prince;
Like a fairytale that's told, they've lived one ever since.

As the years rolled past them, they couldn’t understand;
The marriages of their friends, seemed built on sinking sand,
They’d seen them break apart, then walk away and split;
Perhaps their friends had hearts, from tragic Shakespeare skits.

"Beneath The Moonlight"

“Beneath The Moonlight”
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
She stood stranded on the corner,
After night had burned her bad;
There were secrets she surrendered,
That she never knew she had…
And she looked like she had been where,
All the schemers find their game;
They had taken all she carried,
Leaving her without a name.

CHORUS
There’s a love beneath the moonlight,
But like wind it never stayed;
It just fooled her heart to thinking,
Love beneath the moonlight is ok.

[Vs2]
In a midnight made delusion,
She had been drawn to the dark;
A lonely hope that lingers,
Till it all just falls apart…
So she ran from every shadow,
Looking for a place to hide;
But those shadows just kept growing,
Chasing her down from behind.

CHORUS
There’s a love beneath the moonlight,
But like wind it never stayed;
It just fooled her heart to thinking,
Love beneath the moonlight is ok.…

[BRIDGE]
All she knows is what she heard,
But love's more than a word...
One day she'll learn...

CHORUS
There’s a love beneath the moonlight,
But like wind it never stayed;
It just fooled her heart to thinking,
Love beneath the moonlight is ok.…
