"Cut A Raindrop"

[Vs1]
When I first met you out near Denver,
We started sharing small talk and a Coor’s,
My heart was just beating a bit louder,
And I wondered was it louder than your’s...

[Vs2]
With the last call, we said "goodnight",
I promised you tomorrow I'd be there;
I couldn’t sleep at home without a smile,
And thoughts of yours lingered like perfumed air..

CHORUS
Can you cut these memories out of me
And do it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I think about
If you do it I won't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

[Vs3]
I saw you the next night at the same place,
Your lipstick was shining temptingly;
You kissed me and whispered, as the band played,
“When you hear this song, think of me.”

[Vs4]
It’s been a long long while since I saw you,
A sign that we've probably passed the end;
I’ve been there every night since you kissed me,
But I can’t feel my heart beating like then...

CHORUS
Can you cut these memories out of me
And do it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I think about
If you do it I won't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

[OPTIONAL BRIDGE]
Oh the vagaries of love
Can fall on you like a dove
Or they can hit like sliced up rain;
So start now to prepare
To get up and go somewhere
Where raindrops are an unbroken chain

OUTRO CHORUS
You cut those memories right out of me
And did it with precision and with ease;
Though you’re all I thought about
Since you did it I can't doubt
You can prob'ly cut a raindrop falling free

"Lead Balloons"

[Vs1]
Your cowboy boots must hold a stain,
That caught Mascara's falling rain,
The night you stood on our front porch and waved the kids goodbye;
I only wish I could have known,
That you would leave us all alone,
With bitter broken heart filled tears and rum infested lies…

CHORUS 1
Memories like lead balloons
Fall on me in every room
I’m afraid I won’t forget
And angry if you have;
All my dreams of love are chained
In dust that falls like all the pain
They fall on me, calling me –
Those lead balloons... still remain

[Vs2]
The kids don't play out on their swing,
With daddy gone they miss something,
That not too long ago meant everything they couldn’t lose...

CHORUS 1
Memories like lead balloons
Fall on me in every room
I’m afraid I won’t forget
And angry if you have;
All my dreams of love are chained
In dust that falls like all the pain
They fall on me, calling me –
Those lead balloons... still remain

[Vs3]
So we've moved on to newer things,
That only someone else could bring,
Now and then he stops by wearing new cowboy boots …
The change he's brought is slow and sweet,
Now I can hear kid's running feet,
And the children sing as he strums old country tunes…

CHORUS 2
Memories like lead balloons,
Fell on me in every room,
I was scared I would forget
The love I thought I had;
All my dreams of love remain
In cowboy boots and rainbow rain
He’s loving me, all of me –
Those lead balloons... blew away

"Only Leave A Kiss"

[Vs1]
Like cigarettes without a light,
I'm in this room alone tonight,
Trying to erase the way your skin felt right on mine;
I hope that time heals open wounds,
'Cause I still hear that velvet tune,
You whispered in my ear so clear my skin felt every rhyme...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

[Vs2]
Yesterday was just a blur,
I think the cocktails needed stirred,
Or maybe I was never meant to fall in love with you;
I’m still here but you're long gone,
Like poetry that’s written wrong,
Forgetting you is hard now but I’ll see what I can do...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

[BRIDGE]
Love is just another day
Within reach but far away
I'll throw away these cigarettes and try some Chardonnay...

CHORUS
It may be all a waste of time,
'Cause love can be like this...
Comes at you like lightning, but finds a way to miss...
I've thought about it long and hard,
While whiskey takes a grip...
Love can thunder into life but only leave a kiss...

"You're The Last Song I Will Sing"

“You’re The Last Song I Will Sing” (Long Cut Version) <Draft 10>

[Vs1]
A wild wind is blowing
Right across this weathered road;
Highway signs have fallen over,
They’re covered now by snow…
My dashboard lights your photo,
It brings the warmth I need;
I'm on this frozen highway;
Are you still waitin' for me?

[Vs2]
Any lights in the distance
Must be hiding through this night;
On this interstate abandoned –
All I see is falling white…
Though my travelin' days are over, .
And I’ve sung what I can sing;
You're still my only answer, and
Your love’s my everything.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.

[Vs3]
I hear your voice calling
Through those windswept winter trees;
My heartbeat's getting louder,
In my mind you’re holding me…
The city lights are creeping,
Through the blurry in-between;
This lone journey’s almost over,
And you’re almost within reach.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.

[Vs4]
The street’s white with winter cotton,
The drifts are getting deep;
As my wheels crawl to our driveway,
You’re probably fast asleep…
There’s a candle in the window,
Your face is in it’s light;
Smiling beautiful as ever,
You’ve been waiting through this night.

CHORUS
I have been a million miles, but they don’t mean a thing;
My heart’s melody surrenders –
You’re the last song I will sing.
