"Not Apocalypse It"

“Not Apocalypse It”
©️ by Frank DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
I sent you news with Technicolor clues
About a love that lasts long;
Some worn out lines on a photo’s backside
And a MP3 of past songs.
We were a pair with a future where
Our days would create stories;
I still believe you didn’t mean to leave –
Maybe it's an allegory.

CHORUS
If we fall apart after joined at the heart,
A Band-Aid might not fix it;
We still have time to stitch a better life,
And not apocalypse it.

[Vs2]
This will be real when you begin to feel
Our missing love connection;
Your heart will say you were wrong the day
You sought your own reflection.
We’ll be OK when you’re here to stay
And reclaim your old pillow;
We’ll dance and eat and I’ll massage your feet
Underneath our weeping willow.

CHORUS
If we fall apart after joined at the heart,
A Band-Aid might not fix it;
We still have time to stitch a better life,
And not apocalypse it.

[BRIDGE]
I keep my promises,
And carve them into stone;
They’re not just art or for the faint of heart,
Or AI mechanized drones

CHORUS
If we fall apart after joined at the heart,
A Band-Aid might not fix it;
We still have time to stitch a better life,
And not apocalypse it.
