"Nighttime Laws" (Long Version)

“Nighttime Laws” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

She bled out all her secrets,
On the pavement’s fractured lines;
She never paused a moment,
Just to read the darkened signs;
That road had bred deceivers,
Who dragged her every mile;
Lies had cut each piece of her,
And even ripped her smile.

She went there for soft music,
Casanovas looked so proud;
Shd tried to hide emotion,
She was just one in a crowd;
Surrender was no option,
Just to find her way back home;
Those alleys like dark prisons,
Kept her love cold and alone.

CHORUS
Nighttime laws have a history,
Taking love and giving misery,
Try and run unlike the fools...
Who try to reach some lying jewels;
Stand up straight and never fall -
For all those nighttime laws

She hid inside the rubble,
Of some dreamers’ fabled lives;
Her mistakes tried to haunt her,
But she stood down their red eyes;
Then she found some strength within,
And broke through all love's walls;
She broke through like a fire,
Now she makes the nighttime laws.

BRIDGE
She broke the rules and that's just fine
She's making new ones for all to find -
And never look behind...

CHORUS
Nighttime laws have a history,
Taking love and giving misery,
Try and run unlike the fools...
Who try to reach some lying jewels;
Stand up straight and never fall -
For all those nighttime laws.

“Bag of Marbles”

“Bag of Marbles”
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

With a little bag of marbles and a silly boyish grin;
I told her that I loved her –
But that was way back when…
Now some days I see her on the other side of town;
As she's walking like she's wearing –
A torn up wedding gown…

CHORUS 1
I lost my bag of marbles,
But she lost something more;
If I had just one more chance,
I’d show her what love’s for –

Night pounced on her mem'ries burning up her pretty eyes;
She couldn’t hide from hearing,
All those wedding bells of lies…
He promised her the world but he gave her none of his;
As she stared into the darkness –
Wondered how she fell for this.

CHORUS 1
I lost my bag of marbles,
But she lost something more;
If I had just one more chance,
I’d show her what love’s for –

[BRIDGE]
Each dream you had is never really gone…
But sometimes you can't find them till you're ready to move on…

She got a new apartment not too far from where I stay;
I ain’t got any secrets –
Can't trust them anyway…
Last night I stopped by her place to see how she had been;
She had my bag of marbles –
And with tears asked, "could we talk -
'Bout way back when?"...

CHORUS 2
I found my bag of marbles,
But she found something more;
‘Cause I had another chance,
To show her what love’s for –

"Go Back Home"

“Go Back Home”

<All Rights Reserved. No part of this lyric may be used or modified without authorial consent>

[Vs1]
I know I made a big mistake,
You were never mine at all –
There’s someone else inside of you;
You still can hear his call...
Another heart is still in play –
It paces your home's halls

So…

CHORUS
Go back home, where alone,
Sits someone who needs you,
Much more than I do,
And he’s given all he has to you...
Just like he promised to...

[Vs2]
You should go, now that I know,
Someone's riddled with grief-
Those feelings that have tricked us now;
Were never our's to keep...
All the times we ever shared -
Were never quite as deep…

So…

CHORUS
Go back home, where alone,
Sits someone who needs you,
Much more than I do,
And he’s given all he has to you...
Just like he promised to...

[Vs3]
Don’t return, you should learn,
Love's not a change of clothes -
The love he has is still for you;
You're the one he chose,
He's waiting there to show to you -
You're still his only rose…

So…

CHORUS
Go back home, where alone,
Sits someone who needs you,
Much more than I do,
And he’s given all he has to you...
Just like he promised to...

"Bring Tomorrow"

"Bring Tomorrow"
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
Through lightning and through shadows,
We've always found a way;
To melt our hands together,
Held for another day -
Some questions beg for answers,
And answers may come late;
But there's always a tomorrow,
That'll get us through today...

CHORUS
Let's bring tomorrow here today,
But leave the past behind;
Cause yesterday is over,
And what's lost we shouldn't find -

[Vs2]
Our hearts are like two diamonds,
Made into one strong stone;
No thief can steal our treasure,
If we treasure each alone -
With each heartbeat we've gathered,
Everything storms blew away;
In the wind I hear tomorrow,
And it's coming here today...

CHORUS
Let's bring tomorrow here today,
But leave the past behind;
Cause yesterday is over,
And what's lost we shouldn't find -

[BRIDGE]
Looking at each other,
We see what's really clear -
Today and each tomorrow,
Will always find us here...

CHORUS
Bring tomorrow here today,
But leave the past behind;
Cause yesterday is over,
And what's lost we shouldn't find -
Bring tomorrow here today,
That's where our dreams reside;
Cause yesterday is over,
And that's where failures hide.

"Romance"

“Romance”
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
He sits under midnight's falling stars,
Head buried deep in his hands;
It was a summer night like this,
She said, "I need a different man"…
Not long ago he stole her heart,
They'd stare through candlelight;
He'd buy her long stemmed roses,
But the candle lit roses died.

CHORUS 1
There's always need for romance,
When two hearts once unite;
But where's that place for romance,
When one forgets what's right...

[Vs2]
He cries with his emotions raw,
Burned up by her release;
The nighttime carries a ghostly chill -
Her memories came to feast…
He runs from promises graveyard home,
And knows that she was right;
His promises to her strike him hard,
And for them now he vows to fight.

CHORUS 1
There's always need for romance,
When two hearts once unite;
But where's that place for romance,
When one forgets what's right...

[Vs3]
He finds her in a café's booth,
Her eyes are red with pain;
He grabs her close and holds her tight,
Says for her love he will change…
Her touch is filled with gentleness,
Sighs underneath her breath;
She sees in his eyes the man she loved,
And not the man she left.

CHORUS 2
There's always need for romance,
When two hearts once unite;
And there's a place for romance,
When two get it back right...
There's always need for romance,
Every heart lives for a taste;
And when two fight for romance,
Those hearts will melt in place.

“Burn Away”

“Burn Away”
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Our secrets can be told tonight –
I won’t compromise, or try to disguise,
I need you to see it's alright…
If we take too long to handle all the feelings we’re here for;
There may never be another chance to find a little more.

[Vs2]
Magic's on these streets tonight –
In passionate air, and you standing there,
I don’t have the strength to fight…
So I’m taking midnight’s gamble, gonna move a little more;
To your body captivating and your smile that says you're sure.

CHORUS
We can burn away tonight –
There’s no one to blame if we burn like a flame,
Igniting into the night…
We can burn away tonight –
We can burn away…

[Vs3]
Whispers are like fire tonight –
We stand near and stare, we both are aware,
Our hearts can explode out of sight…
Your kisses are like candles and they’re turning up the heat;
On this red hot close encounter that is burning us complete.

[BRIDGE]
Take my hand, we’ll hit the highway till there’s no one left in sight;
We can make this moment’s memory last for more than just one night…

CHORUS
We can burn away tonight –
There’s no one to blame if we burn like a flame,
Igniting into the night…
We can burn away tonight –
We can burn away…
Burn away.

"One Chance For Forever"

“One Chance For Forever”
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
On a dark corner she sits, a tissue in her hand;
Never been very good, at playing one night stands;
She’s looking for a way out, of phony love routines;
Maybe there's a tomorrow, that'll pickup all her dreams.

CHORUS
Falling in love was a secret known
By those holding together
She wore ripped clothes but had them sewn
To find one chance forever

[Vs2]
A Greyhound bus to somewhere else, where moonlight doesn't leave,
And love songs keep on playing loud, with no breaks in-between;
She hope's that new horizon's near, not all that far away,
She wonders when she gets out, if she'll find a better day.

CHORUS
Falling in love was a secret known
By those holding together
She wore ripped clothes but had them sewn
To find one chance forever

[Vs3]
She's pouring her heart out slowly, still weak from her dead past;
She's just one lonely rider, from love leaving too fast;
She flies through every midnight, with caution by her side;
Still looking for one heartbeat, that she can beat with right...

CHORUS
Falling in love was a secret known
By those holding together
She wore ripped clothes but had them sewn
To find one chance forever
