From all that's compromised
There's nothing left to fear
I finally realized
Someday you'd have to go
And that was yesterday
To late for you to know
My heart was still in play
I should have told you then
But life's a busy street
You drive and drive again
Through snow or summer heat
But I apologize
I cannot change the past
Sometimes the feeling dies
It slips right through our grasp
I bet you think we tried
I didn't try enough
I played the poker's lie
A gambler's losing bluff
Maybe someday we'll see
That love plays funny games
One day's not destiny
One ember's not a flame
I hope you feel okay
Tomorrow's not today
You'll find another way
To not be led astray
