"Nighttime Laws" (Long Version)

“Nighttime Laws” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

She bled out all her secrets,
On the pavement’s fractured lines;
She never paused a moment,
Just to read the darkened signs;
That road had bred deceivers,
Who dragged her every mile;
Lies had cut each piece of her,
And even ripped her smile.

She went there for soft music,
Casanovas looked so proud;
Shd tried to hide emotion,
She was just one in a crowd;
Surrender was no option,
Just to find her way back home;
Those alleys like dark prisons,
Kept her love cold and alone.

CHORUS
Nighttime laws have a history,
Taking love and giving misery,
Try and run unlike the fools...
Who try to reach some lying jewels;
Stand up straight and never fall -
For all those nighttime laws

She hid inside the rubble,
Of some dreamers’ fabled lives;
Her mistakes tried to haunt her,
But she stood down their red eyes;
Then she found some strength within,
And broke through all love's walls;
She broke through like a fire,
Now she makes the nighttime laws.

BRIDGE
She broke the rules and that's just fine
She's making new ones for all to find -
And never look behind...

CHORUS
Nighttime laws have a history,
Taking love and giving misery,
Try and run unlike the fools...
Who try to reach some lying jewels;
Stand up straight and never fall -
For all those nighttime laws.

“Bag of Marbles”

“Bag of Marbles”
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

With a little bag of marbles and a silly boyish grin;
I told her that I loved her –
But that was way back when…
Now some days I see her on the other side of town;
As she's walking like she's wearing –
A torn up wedding gown…

CHORUS 1
I lost my bag of marbles,
But she lost something more;
If I had just one more chance,
I’d show her what love’s for –

Night pounced on her mem'ries burning up her pretty eyes;
She couldn’t hide from hearing,
All those wedding bells of lies…
He promised her the world but he gave her none of his;
As she stared into the darkness –
Wondered how she fell for this.

CHORUS 1
I lost my bag of marbles,
But she lost something more;
If I had just one more chance,
I’d show her what love’s for –

[BRIDGE]
Each dream you had is never really gone…
But sometimes you can't find them till you're ready to move on…

She got a new apartment not too far from where I stay;
I ain’t got any secrets –
Can't trust them anyway…
Last night I stopped by her place to see how she had been;
She had my bag of marbles –
And with tears asked, "could we talk -
'Bout way back when?"...

CHORUS 2
I found my bag of marbles,
But she found something more;
‘Cause I had another chance,
To show her what love’s for –
