"Time Rewinds"

"Time Rewinds" (Draft 3)
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
The stars are playing or they're hiding somewhere,
The kinds of things some kids do;
They try to hide the sparkle in their eyes,
But they really don't want to...
We're like them, maybe a little more mature,
Or at least we still think so;
But within your eyes I see the wild and the free,
Bright with their blue eyed glow...

CHORUS
All our times rewind and park so near,
They are shining crystal clear -
But we can always let our future loose,
Then when time rewinds we'll drive and disappear...

[Vs2]
At noon the sun is brighter than at night,
And it's always been that way;
The day may now and then hide some secrets,
And with us that's where they stay;
But we have changed every single season,
Even winter's nice and warm;
Sometimes we are one beneath the blankets,
With new feelings being born...

CHORUS
All our times rewind and park so near,
They are shining crystal clear -
But we can always let our future loose,
Then when time rewinds we'll drive and disappear.

BRIDGE
Who really knows what all the future holds -
But together we have nothing to fear...

CHORUS
All our times rewind and park so near,
They are shining crystal clear -
But we can always let our future loose,
Then when time rewinds we'll drive and disappear.

"How To Treat A Girl" (cup of coffee draft)

"How To Treat That Girl" (cup of coffee draft)
©️ Frank DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
I woke a bit too early
You are still asleep
I wonder if you're dreaming
And dancing there with me
You're on my mind when I sleep
And throughout each hard day
Your beauty is a candle
While your smile lights my way

CHORUS
When you find that someone
And she becomes your world
Time and love will teach you
How to treat that girl

[Vs2]
You handed me the future
When you said " I do",
Everything I care about
Boils down to you
Someday when I am finished
And the bed is half empty
I pray I'll fill your dreams
With you still holding me

CHORUS
When you find that someone
And she becomes your world
Time and love will teach you
How to treat that girl

BRIDGE
There's always a tomorrow
If you feel life's been unfair
Don't get tired waiting
You'll one day hold me there

CHORUS
When you find that someone
And she becomes your world
Time and love will teach you
How to treat that girl

"Pit Of Love" (Morning Cup of Coffee Draft)

"Pit Of Love" (Cup of coffee lyrical draft)
©️ Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
My heartbeat is telling me
In love's Morse code
You're the only one I see
With night vision mode
But that's ok, it is fine
I'll tell you now it's true
My mind will not forget
It's been dabbed with super glue

CHORUS
If you couldn't tell before
Maybe now you see
I've fallen in a pit of love
You made just for me
I can't leave this pit of love...
Only you can set me free

[Vs2]
I don't know what else to say
The cat has got my tongue
Can you pretend you are mine
Until the moon is done?
It may be too much to ask
With elementary words
I was running on vinyl wheels
Hoping that you really heard

CHORUS
If you couldn't tell before
Maybe now you see
I've fallen in a pit of love
You made just for me
I can't leave this pit of love...
Only you can set me free

BRIDGE
Are you still there?
Or did I scare away,
Everything I hoped for
Is who you are today

CHORUS
If you couldn't tell before
Maybe now you see
I've fallen in a pit of love
You made just for me
I can't leave this pit of love...
Only you can set me free

"Inside Your Shadow"

“Inside Your Shadow”
©️ by Frank DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Whispers,
Sound just like heartaches,
Falling like snowflakes,
On your wintered heart;
Throw out,
Those empty love lines,
Given out like deadlines,
Made to fall apart.

PRE-CHORUS
You don’t need to keep,
Feelings hard to speak...

CHORUS
I’ll hide there, inside your shadow,
Always be where you go,
Won’t be long till you know,
That new love you feel's from me…
It’s made of me....

[Vs2]
Night time,
Just like a willow,
Creeping through the window,
While you fall asleep;
Mem’ries,
Still recall where you’ve been,
Promise you a new spin,
With a love complete.

PRE-CHORUS
You don’t need to go,
Anywhere else to know...

CHORUS
I’ll hide there, inside your shadow,
Always be where you go,
Won’t be long till you know,
That new love you feel's from me…
It’s made of me....

[BRIDGE]
Can you feel,
A love that’s real?
Mine always will -
Hang on to you..

CHORUS
I’ll hide there, inside your shadow,
Always be where you go,
Won’t be long till you know,
That new love you feel's from me…
It’s made of me....

"Day Is Like The Night"

"Day Is Like The Night"
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Heat rises slowly from the city streets
Those not there will ever know
All the hurt and pain and crippling shame
Pushes all those there to go
Way beyond forgiving lines
And fallen warning signs
Until the rich and content find their lives too are bent
When the world they knew came and went

CHORUS
Freedom's been burned
The songbirds have learned
Not to sing at dawn's early light
When we turned away
The sun forgot to stay
Now the day is like the night

[Vs2]
Anger boils over this hot melting pot
Where kindness was the one rule
Then people gave in to the rage within
Like fire fed by fuel
Since the promises given
Ain't the lives they're livin'
When lying sweet rain hit the nameless and vain
Now for both the world turns the same

CHORUS
Freedom's been burned
The songbirds have learned
Not to sing at dawn's early light
When we turned away
The sun forgot to stay
Now the day is like the night

BRIDGE
When the tables are turned
Maybe then we'll see
We have all been burned
When this world we walk in's not free

CHORUS
Freedom's been burned
The songbirds have learned
Not to sing at dawn's early light
When we turned away
The sun forgot to stay
Now the day is like the night

“Dreams Cry Away”

Dreams Cry Away” (Simple Poetic Draft)
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
A river flows, near the place,
Where once we wandered passed;
The ground it shows, just a trace,
Where our love was seen last.

[Vs2]
The wind it blows, on my face,
But leaves me just as fast;
It seems to know, our embrace,
Back then just couldn't last.

CHORUS
There was a time, too far away,
When you were mine, each night and day;
But now you’re gone, I don’t know why,
And every night - my dreams cry away.

[Vs3]
A subtle breeze, says your name,
In such a silent tone;
I cannot seize, it’s one aim,
To find and bring you home.

[Vs4]
Perhaps you’ll see, there’s no gain,
To wandering alone;
If thoughts of me, feel the same,
It’s true love that you’ve known.

CHORUS
There was a time, too far away,
When you were mine, each night and day;
But now you’re gone, I don’t know why,
And every night - my dreams cry away.

[Bridge]
When nighttime calls, and you feel lost;
If your heart melts, your winter’s frost;
Remember me, you know I care;
Just turn and see, I'll still be there.

CHORUS
There was a time, too far away,
When you were mine, each night and day;
But now you’re gone, I don’t know why,
And every night - my dreams cry away.

"Not A Dying Star"

"Not A Dying Star" (Morning Coffee Musings)
©️ Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

She's floating in the wind
With butterfly wings
A breeze through the trees
That makes them all sing
Sometimes she's all alone
But content like a dove
On moon filled quiet nights
She's the glow that's above

She's a freedom loving soul
No need to advance
She'd be happy 'neath a tree
Or a musicless dance
It's just the simple things
That give her a thrill
Don't care for complicating
The things that life will

She's the stillness of a sky
Mornings bright and blue
Runs through every storm
With a smile traveling through
Doesn't care for money
Like others live for
She's happy with each breath
Loves waiting for more

She's what we all can be
If we change our view
Cause life ain't a race
We have to sweat through
We should give her a chance
To bring us some rest
Life's not a marathon
To see who's the best

Saddle up slowly
Ride that horse with joy
Your life's not meant
To be a wound up toy
Scraping the bottom
Isn't who we really are
Live your life with ease
And not a dying star

"Remember To Forget"

“Remember To Forget”
©️ by Frank DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
He tossed you aside, like a tattered old shirt,
You thought he cared for you, so it’s still gotta hurt;
Go ahead and cry, let the tears flow free,
Don’t let what he told you, steal who you can be.

CHORUS
Remember to forget,
What you haven’t yet forgot,
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not –
Remember to forget
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not...

[Vs2]
I knew the day would come, when he’d up and leave,
I thought you knew it too, but you couldn't see;
It may take a while, for all that pain to go,
It'll find some other place, to stop another show

CHORUS
Remember to forget,
What you haven’t yet forgot,
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not –
Remember to forget
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not...

[BRIDGE]
Throw it a off bridge
Or leave it to rot
That sinkin' little feeling
That you've shot your last shot...

CHORUS
Remember to forget,
What you haven’t yet forgot,
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not –
Remember to forget
The past is gone for good,
But you’re not...

"Time Forgot To Take"

"Time Forgot To Take"
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr
<All rights reserved. This lyric may not be used without permission>

[Vs1]
Mem'ries of that night still enchant me
I've been captured by its simple spell
Your arms around me like a blanket
It was too good for me to ever tell

[Vs2]
But here I am writing till the morning
When light of a new day will begin
I can't help but sit here and just wonder
If you can remember us back then

CHORUS
I've never felt this kind of lasting pain,
'Cause all these thoughts of you still remain
What's the reason these feelings will not break?
They're remnants time forgot to take...

[Vs3]
The ending came a little bit too early
Like stormy rain on a sunny day
If the only things I can keep near me
Are the memories of you, it's ok

[Vs4]
Even though you're gone I'll still remember
How our kisses made you start to sway
We were melted all alone like two candles
And the light of your eyes won't go away

CHORUS
I've never felt this kind of lasting pain,
'Cause all these thoughts of you still remain
What's the reason these feelings will not break?
They're remnants time forgot to take...

BRIDGE
I don't know why you left behind these mem'ries
But once again, that's ok

CHORUS
I've never felt this kind of lasting pain,
'Cause all these thoughts of you still remain
What's the reason these feelings will not break?
They're remnants time forgot to take...

"Mama, Get Some Rest"

"Mama, Get Some Rest"
©️ by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All rights reserved>

[Vs1]
You grew up in modesty
That's a nice way to say poor
You only had a pair of old shoes
To walk your church school floor
But you did your diligence
Finished with such ease
Married dad in a borrowed dress
On a snowy New Year's eve

CHORUS
Why are you standing at the stove,
Wearing your Sunday dress?
You always cook and care for us
Mama, get some rest...

[Vs2]
The years were hard and were kind
Depending on the day
You cared for dad when he got sick
To heaven he's led the way
But you never let us see
Any tears you may have cried
You simply read your Bible
Taught for us, Jesus died

CHORUS
Why are you standing at the stove,
Wearing your Sunday dress?
You always cook and care for us
Mama, get some rest

[Vs3]
When you leave to see your Lord
Tell dad that we said "hi"
You'll never need to cook again
You've taught us to get by
Now you're sick but wear a smile
Your Bible on your chest
The doc says you'll be leaving tonight
We know you'll fin'ly rest

CHORUS
Why aren't you standing at the stove,
Wearing your Sunday dress?
You always cooked and cared for us
Mama, get some rest
