“When That Train Stops”

“When That Train Stops”
©️ by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
She looked out her cold window at the sunrise,
Having traveled that dark night without sleep;
She tried to count each train track for a while,
But without him every count was incomplete –

[Vs2]
She never ventured this far in her daydreams,
So her heart beat faster with each passing mile;
She placed his photo gently on her window,
Now her journey wouldn’t be without his smile.

CHORUS 1
There’s one love that eclipses every other,
Every love you tried but love just wasn’t there –
When it finds you it will never let you go…
Just wait a while – you will know…
When that train moves – it’s time to go.

[Vs3]
All their memories together kept returning,
Every night they spent upon those silver sands;
The moonlight’s blanket erased summer's questions,
And they simply melted in each other’s hands -

[Vs4]
Now she gave up everything to join him back East,
From her home their love was just too far away;
In the distance she could feel her new tomorrow,
As she rode those rusty train tracks one more day.

CHORUS 1
There’s one love that eclipses every other,
Every love you tried but love just wasn’t there –
When it finds you it will never let you go…
Just wait a while – you will know…
When that train moves – it’s time to go.

[Vs5]
As the train slowly crawled toward new horizons,
And the sun peeked over Smokey Mountain sides;
She took his photo off the warming window,
'Cause by now his smile warmed her deep inside...

[Vs6]
Soon the whistle blew announcing the arrival,
Of this old train that brought her all this way;
As she stepped into forever he was waiting,
Then he ran to her and took her heart away.

CHORUS 2
There’s one love that eclipses every other,
Every love you tried but love just wasn’t there –
When it finds you it will never let you go…
Just wait a while – you will know…
When that train stops – it’s time to go…
When that train stops – it’s time to go…
When that train stops – it’s time to go…(REPEAT AND FADE)

"Every Night" (Long Version)

“Every Night” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.
<All Rights Reserved>

[Vs1]
Every city light is burning,
Casting smoke upon the wind;
Lonely faces slowly changing;
Putting on their midnight skin…
Lover’s hearts find true submission,
While the hustlers look for prey;
In this city of lost angels,
Just the end of another day.

CHORUS
Every night breathes full surrender,
Every night brings one more chance;
Every night begs a decision –
Run away or join the dance…
Every night feeds romance novels,
Every night needs one more prayer;
Every night breathes one tomorrow –
But no one wants to leave for there.

[Vs2]
Moonlight fights against the darkness,
As it pales from summer heat;
Nameless wanderers find trouble,
Boiling over these dark streets…
From the neon signs of pleasure,
To the church bells’ quiet sounds;
In this city's contradictions,
No real answers can be found.

CHORUS
Every night breathes full surrender,
Every night brings onemore chance;
Every night begs a decision –
Run away or join the dance…
Every night feeds romance novels,
Every night needs one more prayer;
Every night breathes one tomorrow –
But no one wants to leave for there.

OPTIONAL BRIDGE
There are no soft enchantments,
Every night drops strong and hard –
Once the twilight runs for cover,
Night breathes down the boulevard…

[Vs3]
With each hour pushing forward,
All the shadows fight for air;
‘Cause the daylight hates excuses,
From the people stranded there…
Morning grabs a new horizon,
Strains to push the night away;
Strangers turn to mist and vanish –
Just the start of another day.

CHORUS
Every night breathes full surrender,
Every night brings one more chance;
Every night begs a decision –
Run away or join the dance…
Every night feeds romance novels,
Every night needs one more prayer;
Every night breathes one tomorrow –
But no one wants to leave for there.

“More Yesterdays”

Remember that old stone house where our names are etched in wood?
A lonely rusty pickup truck still sits there like we would –
At night its bed would hold us while we counted falling stars;
These two rings remind us what we had there is still ours’.

CHORUS
The hourglass has broken,
Its sands have blown away;
Everything still left here,
Came from all our yesterdays…
Our future will be golden,
With a touch or two of gray –
And I promise that tomorrow's,
Bringing us more yesterdays.

I can’t forget your eyes were like the sparkling summer sea;
The universe exploded and it rained chills down on me –
Every speck of moonlight danced across your golden skin;
Years have passed but I can see its doing it again.

CHORUS
The hourglass has broken,
Its sands have blown away;
Everything still left here,
Came from all our yesterdays…
Our future will be golden,
With a touch or two of gray –
And I promise that tomorrow's,
Bringing us more yesterdays.

[BRIDGE]
Those tiny little creases in your smile,
Remind me that we've been a few miles,
But that's just fine
Our hands have never let go...
We're a little older from way back then,
But we would do it all over again,
There ain't no doubt
Our hands will never let go...

CHORUS
The hourglass has broken,
Its sands have blown away;
Everything still left here,
Came from all our yesterdays…
Our future will be golden,
With a touch or two of gray –
And I promise that tomorrow's,
Bringing us more yesterdays.

"Flames"

“Flames”
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1 -MAN]
This summer night is whistling through lovesick Southern air –
Midnight streaks are racing ‘cross your velvet silky hair –
I will hold this moment so I’ll always find you there –
Burning with the flames from you and I…

[Vs2 - WOMAN]
Your smile is the magic that unleashes my heart’s beat –
Your whispers hold passions of where we both should be –
Every star is watching as you’re melting holding me –
Melting in the flames from you and I…

CHORUS
Our flames will never hurt us,
Our flames will never die;
Our flames are made to show us,
Only our flames satisfy –

[Vs3 - WOMAN]
With this love we're boiling the entire atmosphere –
Falling stars are signals that there’s much more far from here –
Let’s take that darkened highway while these passions try to steer –
Steering with the flames from you and I…

[Vs4 - MAN]
Your golden legs are acting as the moonlight’s only guide –
There’s nothing left to guess here and there’s nothing left to hide –
Our full embrace is telling us we’re in it for the ride –
Riding with the flames from you and I…

CHORUS
Our flames will never hurt us,
Our flames will never die;
Our flames are made to show us,
Only our flames satisfy –

[OPTIONAL BRIDGE - BOTH]
That’s horizon’s getting hotter,
It’s just about to blow;
The heat is slowly rising as we near its red hot glow…
We’ll set the world on fire and everyone will know…

CHORUS
Our flames will never hurt us,
Our flames will never die;
Our flames are like a wildfire,
Torching every sky;
Our flames are made to show us,
Only our flames satisfy –
All this blazing love is simply,
Flames from you and I...

"Winds of Amsterdam"

"Winds of Amsterdam"

[Vs1]
You were moving like a breeze, on a moonlit river summer night,
I couldn't help but wonder, how could a moment be that right;
Those memories stayed with me, like hands on a clock that's cracked,
If I could I'd say a prayer, to make those days come running back...

CHORUS
I miss the pitter patter of the dancing rain,
Across your bedroom window -
And how the winds of Amsterdam
Would blow your hair so beautiful and free...
But every midnight whistle of a distant train,
Reminded me I had to go -
Right through the winds of Amsterdam
I used to wish would bring you home with me...

[Vs2]
In your smile was a kiss, that melted the whole world away,
Every glance inside your eyes, saw you still holding me today...
I can't help but wonder, if you see the moon that I see now,
'Cause it's just asking questions, that all these miles can't allow...

CHORUS
I miss the pitter patter of the dancing rain,
Across your bedroom window -
And how the winds of Amsterdam
Would blow your hair so beautiful and free...
But every midnight whistle of a distant train,
Reminded me I had to go -
Right through the winds of Amsterdam
I used to wish would bring you home with me...

[BRIDGE]
Tonight has bred confusion,
As the feelings trickle in,
What would happen if I dropped it all,
And went back there to you...
But it strikes as no surprise,
I'm now done with fool's goodbyes,
I'll run out and find that tired train,
And let those winds do what they do...

CHORUS 2
I miss the pitter patter of the dancing rain,
Across your bedroom window -
And how the winds of Amsterdam would blow your hair so beautiful and free...
But every midnight whistle of a distant train,
Reminded me I had to go -
Right through the winds of Amsterdam... I used to wish you'd go away with me;
Right through the winds of Amsterdam
Tonight you'll be holding on to me.

“Screen Door Kisses”

[Vs1]
Mosquitoes circlin' your front porch light,
Full moon floats in a foggy flight,
Your eyes melt all my feelings up in smoke;
Front yard swing swaying in the breeze,
Warm summer night whistles through oak trees,
Your red hot lips set fire to the words I spoke…

CHORUS
I need a little more than screen door kisses;
Our love's a little young but so ambitious;
If you open that door we’ll burn the road all up tonight -
That old screen door...will not miss us.

[Vs2]
Magnolias bring a sweet smelling song,
Every star begs us to move on,
So grab my hand – let’s take this lovers’ ride;
Your smile is giving your dreams away,
It’s time to open a brand new day,
Take one more step, you'll find those stars are right...

CHORUS
I need a little more than screen door kisses;
Our love's a little young but so ambitious;
If you open that door we’ll burn the road all up tonight -
That old screen door...will not miss us.

[BRIDGE]
You bust that door and jump inside this old car of mine...
You hold me tight just like two words written to rhyme...
Hey darlin, now these wheels are gonna fly...

CHORUS
I need a little more than screen door kisses;
Our love's a little young but so ambitious;
If you open that door we’ll burn the road all up tonight -
That old screen door...will not miss us.

"Pink Tennis Shoes" (Long Version)

“Pink Tennis Shoes” (Long Version)
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.
Draft 5

[Vs1]
At night my mind wanders, to where all the sunsets fall;
Endless nights together – under stars we’d share it all;
Your dreams could never hold me, you tried to make them mine;
Then one night in that meadow nearby, you cried a long goodbye...

[Vs2]
You moved to urban jungles, where dreams and truth collide;
I stayed here in the meadows, where my dreaming days have died;
Your picture’s in my wallet, it's all that's left to show...
Holding hands was magic when I dreamt of tomorrow.

CHORUS
Years rise and fall like mem'ries,
In some worn out vinyl tune;
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?

[Vs3]
I remember when you whispered, “You can still look behind –
In every thought of me and you, I’m there for you to find”;
But midnight is a monster, that says the past is gone;
That's a lie so tonight I'll drive, and prove that midnight’s wrong.

CHORUS
Years rise and fall like mem'ries,
In some worn out vinyl tune;
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?

[Vs4]
I've brought an old stained envelope, your address smeared by tears;
I’ve driven there, hoping that’s where, you're riding out the years…
As I walk up your wet driveway stones, I can feel your baby blues;
You run to me and I can see, you still wear - pink tennis shoes…

CHORUS
Years rise and fall like mem'ries,
In some worn out vinyl tune;
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?
Would you know me if you saw me,
Do you still wear pink tennis shoes?

“Remains”

“Remains”
Copyright by Frank A. DeCenso, Jr.

[VS1]
In the twilight wearing red you were my vision,
Never thought you’d leave
So quickly out of sight;
Holding you each evening was my passion,
But now my eyes stare
At your pillow every night…

[VS2]
Still the rain tiptoes across our bedroom window,
With midnights all lit up
With sparkling lightning strikes;
The air echoes each lonely weeping willow,
‘Cause all this brokenness
Comes crawling with a price…

CHORUS
When the wind blew I'd hear our loving laughter,
But it's fading out a bit more every day;
Still your picture keeps smiling on forever,
It’s the only piece of you that still remains.

[VS3]
If the darkness really cared I’d feel you breathing,
And I’d see your green eyes
Looking up and into me;
But your moonlit smile never said you’re leaving,
Just giving me lonely
Lost midnight memories …

CHORUS
When the wind blew I'd hear our loving laughter,
But it's fading out a bit more every day;
Still your picture keeps smiling on forever,
It’s the only piece of you that still remains.

[BRIDGE]
If there’s one thing I have learned,
It’s that futures can be burned,
In a moment that can pull one life away

CHORUS
When the wind blew I'd hear our loving laughter,
But it's fading out a bit more every day;
Still your picture keeps smiling on forever,
It’s the only piece of you that still remains....
When the wind blew I'd hear our loving laughter,
But it's fading out a bit more every day;
Still your picture here keeps smiling on forever,
It’s the only piece of you that still remains.

“All That's Left That's Right”

"All That's Left That's Right”
Copyright by Frank A DeCenso, Jr.

[Vs1]
In the closet I found some torn blue jeans,
That were the favorite pair you wore;
Johnny found the train set you and he built,
A wintertime or two before…
The Christmas tree’s up and still blinks bright,
But some bulbs just burned out;
Your parents didn't send a card this year -
They may have forgot us by now...

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.

[Vs2]
The car’s a little shaky, the tailpipe’s loose,
They say it’s on its last mile;
I remember how you’d fix it on rainy weekends,
Then kiss me with a greasy smile…
There’s a little bit of me that looks outside,
To see if you’ve come home;
All I can see is your son's tree house –
He doesn't like it all alone...

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.

[BRIDGE]
The front door key lies under the Welcome mat,
If you ever come back, I hope you remember that –
'Cause its where you put it at…

CHORUS
There’s not much here but two lonely hearts,
You forgot when you left that night;
If you ever feel you’re missing some parts,
Look here - we're all that's left that's right.
